Landice is not worth the price and their support is lame
By Johnny Guitar
I bought a Landice L7 Cardio brand new for nearly four thousand bucks. It is the same treadmill shown here, other than the rehab handrails and possibly the control panel choice. Don't buy it, the underlying design of the platform support has a fundamental flaw and it squeaks.
Mine has squeaked since day 1. I thought it was just an adjustment I needed to make and kept putting that off because quite frankly, after a major surgery and trying to rehab myself I just didn't feel like crawling around the floor trying to tweak a treadmill. (I previously had a commercial $10,000 incline trainer I picked up used, and made some repairs to, but it was bear to work on due to it's weight. So the point of buying the landice was to avoid crawling around the floor, doing repairs, and moving treadmills around.)
But no, $4000 and it squeaks like a $300 walmart treadmill. I thought it was just an adjustment but the seller says based on the nature of the squeak, it is the underlying support structure and the bushings that support the platform "need to be greased". Really? Right from the factory they needed that? And if they require grease as a maintenance item, then are grease fittings for doing that built into the design? No. So its really a workaround for a product flaw in the platform support in my opinion. I can't get the seller to do anything about it because they say "after 1 year there is no reimbursement for labor from Landice". So that's the product....(and my local seller...Lame)
As to Landice support, I registered the "lifetime warranty" (not really sure why at this point...since that doesn't seem to include the labor to do anything) and their paperwork promised a "free" T-shirt. I don't care about it much but it never came. Thinking that perhaps the registration info got lost, I called them and left a message. They never returned the call. Fast forward a couple years...I was buying some additional gear for my gym and visited my seller. I asked them to contact Landice and see if my registration info was ever received and if they could send the T-shirt. I got a note back saying they got it some time ago, and they would send the shirt bulk mail, so I should expect it in 4-6 weeks.
Now that is the indication of a really cheap, and not too bright company. I spent $4000 on a very discretionay purchase from them, and they can't spring for $3 for an envelope and first class mail so I can advertise their brand on my chest? That's both a little insulting...and a little stupid. (And it explains why the seller doesn't think he can contact the company and get reimbursed for a repair too.)
The overall Landice treadmill is ok, but after living with it a couple years, I wish I'd bought a TRUE, or something else. We bought a nice TRUE elliptical (about $3500 on sale) and have had no issues.
Sorry but for the price tag on this merry go round, I expected a decade of trouble free operation at my relatively light duty cycle of use. Buy something half the price and take a vacation with the savings.
