Stay Away from Smooth Products!
By Jack Clemens
Before: I googled for "Smooth treadmill 8.35 reviews" before deciding to buy the Smooth treadmill. I wish I had paid more attention to Amazon reviews.
After: I first used it for 1 to 3 times/week, 20-30 minutes of walking and slow jogging (< 5.0 mph). After a month, the belt had an overheat smell. I thought the room was warm so put a fan next to the motor. The treadmill stopped functioning a few days later. I called and asked for money back (RMA number) since it was still under the refund guarantee. To my surprise, I was told I MUST pay the freight to send it back. Disappointed in finding a freight company for residentials, I had no choice but to accept Smooth's service option. The service guy showed up two weeks later saying I needed a new lower board. Another month for the parts to arrive and be installed.
Current: the belt is slipping and jerking. Once in a while, it stops running showing an error. I can no longer use it, too tired to wait on the phone for Smooth service. They never return my emails btw. Smooth 8.35 is a piece of junk!

ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE
By LSA
I cannot comment on the quality of the machine. I made my initial order on 10.03.12 and heard nothing from the company for about a month. Finally called to let me know that this treadmill was on back order. I was told it would be a matter of weeks before the treadmill would be available to ship, at which point I would still have to wait for standard delivery.
I made my initial contact to cancel my order on 11.08.12. Since that date I have emailed three times and called at LEAST three times. Finally on 11.23.12 I was told that the "cancellations department" had process my "request" as of 11.19.12 and all refunds require 7-10 business days from the "date of cancellation" to process (nevermind that by the standards of any respectable business, my order was cancelled on 11.08).
Including the Thanksgiving holiday, 12.03.12 was the 10th business day, and their self-appointed deadline for refund. This (12.05.12) is the 12th business day since Smooth Fitness cared to validate my order cancellation.
Not only have I NOT been refunded, but when I called a half hour ago (11AM CT) there was only a message stating that "Smooth Fitness is currently closed" but should I choose to leave a message my call will be returned "as soon as we can." And that's it. No explanation for being closed in the early afternoon middle of the week during the BUSIEST RETAIL TIME OF THE YEAR. No indication of when they might muster the will to reopen. Nothing. Just me, trying to get my $1500 back because I unexpectedly got laid off...
And this is to say nothing of the curt, disinterested, unhelpful attitude of every single Smooth Fitness rep I've had the misfortune to encounter. This wouldn't matter to me at all if they were rude but effective. As it is, Smooth Fitness is really only adding insult to robbery.
I will be in contact with the Better Business Bureau later today...
Happy Holidays, Smooth Fitness... Really. Thanks.

Disappointed and Frustrated
By Greg W.
This is a "quiet/smooth" treadmill - only if you plan to use it once a month. My Smooth 8.35 treadmill was unoperational (speed errors, overheated smell) after two months of usage. I sent several emails, never got a single response! I called and Smooth service department LOVE to put you on hold for at least 30-45 minutes. My request for a replacement was denied right away. The service guy installed a new controll board last month. The treadmill has begun to show speed errors again since last week. I am in the lengthy process of going through another warranty/service requests. I paid $1600.00 for a brand new equipment and got a lemon instead. Really disappointed! Do not believe the 5-star reviews unless you only intend to use the treadmill once a month.
